Press Release from Essex Savers

“The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has backed Essex Savers’ new ‘Short Term’ loan – the affordable alternative to a Payday loan. He said: “Supporting credit unions is a fundamental part of Christian witness and service. Churches must help credit unions to become bigger, better known and easier to access in order to compete effectively with high interest lenders.”

Alison Davies, the MD of Essex Savers, said: “The Archbishop’s stand against payday lenders and his support for credit unions like Essex Savers has created a surge of interest.”

“There seems to be a great need for immediate cash at this time. Essex Savers provides an affordable and ethical alternative to payday loans so people do not need to turn to predatory lenders anymore.”
