Carer Engagement Lead
Hours: 28 hours per week (4 days)
Salary: £25,646 (0.8) FTE salary £32,057
Location: Maldon
AFFC have an exciting opportunity for a Carer Engagement Lead to join their team, in a new role working directly with the CEO to ensure that carers lived experience is heard and understood and that carers, including young carers across Essex, have opportunities to participate and contribute. This is a rewarding and varied role, combining direct engagement with carers alongside analysing data and communicating evidence of need to help effect real and positive change.
You will be an engaging communicator with active listening skills and the ability to interpret and apply lived experience to strategic and policy decisions and planning. You will ideally have personal experience of unpaid caring responsibilities and may have previously facilitated service user involvement. You’ll be passionate about harnessing the voice of local carers to secure improved outcomes for carers of all ages across Essex.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating participation opportunities that enable adult and young carers to influence local, regional and national policy decisions and help achieve positive change
- Harnessing and amplifying local carer voice and experience and engaging carers in service planning, delivery and review
- Identifying themes and trends and ensuring these are communicated to key stakeholders
- Monitoring and reporting on outcomes
You will need to be:
- An excellent communicator with empathy and active listening skills
- Proactive, highly organised and equally at home analysing data or producing reports as in engaging with carers and senior local decision makers
- Confident in the use of IT including Microsoft 365 and CRMs (databases)
- Passionate about improving outcomes for local carers
- A driver with access to a vehicle and a willingness to travel across Essex
Education Engagement Lead
Hours: 28 hours per week (4 days)
Salary: £25,646 (0.8) FTE £32,057
Location: Maldon, Colchester or Harlow with hybrid working for the right candidate.
Could you help transform the way schools and education providers identify and support young carers? There are over 10,000 children and young people with caring responsibilities in Essex alone.
AFFC have an exciting opportunity for an Education Engagement Lead to join their Young Carers Team, in a new role leading their engagement with schools and colleges across Essex. This is a rewarding and varied role, working in partnership with schools, further education providers and key stakeholders to improve the identification, recognition and support of young carers.
You will have experience of partnership working, project coordination and delivering training within education, children’s services or the voluntary sector. You’ll be passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people and helping education settings embed sustainable support for young carers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Building effective partnerships with schools and colleges to improve young carer identification and support
- Delivering training and guidance to education professionals
- Supporting schools to achieve the Young Carers in Schools Award
- Developing resources and promoting good practice with young carer team members and across education settings
- Coordinating participation opportunities that enable young carers to influence service development
- Monitoring programme activity and reporting on outcomes
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and partners to improve services for young carers
You will need to be:
- Experienced in partnership working within education, children’s services or the voluntary sector
- Confident delivering training, workshops or presentations
- An excellent communicator with the ability to build positive relationships
- Organised and confident managing projects and competing priorities
- IT literate and comfortable using Microsoft Office and databases
- Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people
- A driver with access to a vehicle
