Tennyson House Live Well Garden

This lovely community garden group started work at Tennyson House Doctor’s Surgery in June 2021.

Set up as a Social Prescribing garden and supported by the RHS, this group supports and encourages volunteers who are living with additional needs or barriers to inclusion.

Once finished, the garden will be for the benefit of the surgery, its patients, and the ongoing needs of the community.

Great care was taken in the design to ensure that pathways, beds, and features are all fully accessible; and that each week offers a diverse range of activities for those with different needs and temperaments. It has been hugely gratifying to watch confidence grow and friendships bloom!
We have enabled the volunteers to visit garden centres, on several visits to RHS Hyde Hall, and invited them to a part of Chelmsford 100.

This project is supported by a grant the CVS secured from Active Essex, with additional financial help coming the Mayor of Chelmsford’s locality fund which allowed us to purchase a garden shed, and pay for materials to build a raised pond and bench (made by Chelmsford Men’s Shed).
