Centre Supporting Voluntary Action, in association with Fairey Associates Ltd, hosted a free‘ Planning’ for Retirement Fair believed to be the first of its kind in England which took place amongst the stately grounds of Hyland House. Over 150 members of the public attended to find out about what steps they might need to put into place to ensure that their retirement plans are what they hoped for. The afternoon session was opened by the Chairman of Essex County Council whist the Deputy Mayor of Chelmsford Cllr Philip Wilson opened the evening session. Both sessions were identical in content and attendees were able to hear from a variety of professionals covering topics such as pensions, wills & probate, inheritance tax, volunteering and legacies. A variety of businesses ranging from a cruise specialist to Aston Martin and solicitors to accountants were on hand to discuss opportunities to enhance retirement opportunities.
“The event was a great idea and great opportunity to offer retired people an place where they can come and see what’s on offer for them.” – Churchill Retirement living
“Congratulations to the team for organising the event – clearly a lot of work was involved! I hope you found it both useful and fun, as it represents a new type of workstream for your organisation, and put CSVA in a very good place – increasing exposure to business, professional advisors and the retired population.” – Essex Community Foundation
“We thought it was a very well-organised event with good attendance from the public. You obviously worked extremely hard and the organisation of the event was brilliant. We would certainly like the opportunity to be included in a future event. Thanks very much.” – Paul J King
