Only 27% of working-age, sight impaired people have employment, which represents a decline from 33% over ten years ago. At a time when more people have employment than ever before*, Support 4 Sight believes that this matter must be addressed to make Essex a fairer place in which to live and work.
Understanding the local issues which prevent people from gaining employment is the first step in a research project that Support 4 Sight are undertaking with Anglia Ruskin University concerning the barriers people with sight loss experience when finding employment in Essex.
Two focus groups are planned to take place in Chelmsford on Saturday 3 December. They are looking to recruit working age, job seekers or employed sight impaired people to participate and join the discussions.
