Welcome

Chelmsford CVS is an independent support and development organisation set up to champion, support and strengthen local charities, voluntary and community groups.

We work locally and in collaboration with other partners across Essex, Southend and Thurrock to maximise voluntary and community action, develop strong communities and enhance local wellbeing.

We host numerous different projects across Chelmsford City, its villages, South Woodham Ferrers and beyond. From Social Prescribing to a Mens Shed. Find out about each individual project below.

Nominations for The Mayors Awards for Voluntary Service 2025 are now open.

Chelmsford 100

A festival of talking, walking, creating and connecting which showcases some of the talents, resourcefulness and community spirit found right across the district.

Volunteering

There are hundreds of volunteering opportunities in Chelmsford. Our Volunteer Centre can help connect you to your perfect voluntary opportunity. Organisations can also find help in recruiting and retraining volunteers.

Chelmsford Men’s Shed

Chelmsford Shed is a progression of your typical garden shed, where men can spend many hours pursuing their practical interests,  in company with others.

SWOT

The Supporting Wellbeing Operations Team project enables health and social care students to gain practical experience of the obstacles faced by vulnerable people leaving hospital, whilst providing vital community support.

Live Well Link Well

We all want to live well but sometimes we need help to do this. Live Well Link Well is a free and confidential Social Prescribing service that provides practical or emotional  support of a non-medical nature.

Winter Warm

Working with a number of trusted local delivery partners we offer winter warm resilience support to the local community and patients at Broomfield Hospital.

Connected Communities

The associations people form between and for themselves are at the heart of social participation. Starting up or becoming part of an existing community group, helping to govern a local charity, or volunteering at a support club, are just some examples of the collective activities that local people get involved with.

We are in regular contact with hundreds of voluntary and community groups, clubs and charities that work directly with some of the most vulnerable and hard to reach in the local community. This ‘voluntary sector’ is a diverse network of networks so connecting with our members is a great place to start if you want to reach out to local people.

We also host a number of networking and showcasing opportunities. Contact the Centre to find out more.
