Youth Volunteers Latest Opportunities 


Writer | 16+

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic writer to join our growing and exciting project, who could provide a series of engaging and compelling articles, covering the sensitive and sometimes complex issues facing disabled people and their care networks. This candidate may also take an active role in our press relations team, helping to promote the organisation within the local media and grow public awareness.

You will be expected to write articles for the Dancing Giraffe C.I.C. website, which will be of interest to disabled people, their carers and families. If you have a particular subject matter that you like writing about then you may be able to write on that subject, but we like people to be as flexible in their writing as possible and you will have to research several sources of information to be able to write authoritatively on the subject matter.

Join in and come and help at our Saturday Activity Club | 16+

To assist Families InFocus Staff (Sessional Workers) with the delivery of activity club sessions, creating a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment for families of children/young people with any disability or special need. Set up the welcome desk, welcome families, help setting up and putting away and manning equipment. Encourage chidren and young people to take part in activities appropiate to their needs and wants
Times volunteer is required between 3- 6pm.

Reception Assistant | Under 18s

We need a volunteer who has the time to help the with daily admin tasks. Be willing to help in the office booking members in and out with the scooters with dealing with handling cash and also assist with those that require a scooter.

Shop Volunteers Needed | 16+

We have various charity shops in Chelmsford City who are looking for volunteers who are able to help either one morning or afternoon a week. You would have the opportunity to be till trained, sort bric-a-brac, clean and organise. Everyone is welcome to volunteer – come and join a great, friendly team!

Awareness and Activities Volunteer | Under 18s

Crohn’s and Colitis UK have teams of volunteers based around the country raising awareness of Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis – two of the main forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (or IBD).

Join a team of like-minded people where you’ll have the opportunity to get as hands-on as you like – whether this is a general or more specific role and on a regular or ad hoc basis. You’ll be part of a team of event organisers, fundraisers, campaigners and awareness raisers! Get involved in one or more of our activities – events, education and information sessions, social activities, editing newsletters, managing social media pages, fundraising, campaigning – and help us to provide informal support and raise awareness of IBD and Crohn’s and Colitis UK.

These teams are made up of those affected by IBD and others who wish to volunteer in their community.

Stroke Centre Saturday Assistant | Under 18s

We are looking for a volunteer to assist at our Saturday Drop-in. You would be:
* Helping to set up the Centre facilities.
* Generally assisting people who come to the Centre.
* Lending a hand to clear up at the end of the session.
The Centre users are lovely people who will really appreciate your support.

Care Team Volunteer | Under 18s

To give practical and emotional support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. Initially helping our Family Support Worker to interact with children via play and outings, assist with transport to hospital appointments or picking up from school, practical help in the house. We support the whole family, not just the sick child.

To assist with events – a fantastic way of getting involved, meeting new people and taking part in fun events.

Rainbow Trust Ambassadors help us raise our profile with local community groups.

Gateway Club Volunteer Chelmsford Area | Under 18s

If you’re the sort of person who can talk to anyone and loves getting involved in different activities then Volunteering at our Gateway club could be for you!!! Whether it be trying to get a strike at ten pin bowling, watching a movie while eating popcorn or playing darts.

We are looking for volunteers to support adults aged from 16+ years with disabilities in a wide range of social, recreational and leisure activities. We run every Thursday night from 7pm – 9pm.

Helpers needed for our Youth Club | Under 18s

Would you like to volunteer with young people aged 8-17 years ? We need help with the canteen, interact with the young people and if you play a musical instrument such as a guitar, key board or drum machine then we would love you to come and help us. There will be lots of opportunities to help with organising events, competitions, art projects, sports, music, outdoor activities in the summer, and help in workshops too.
