Mayors Award for Voluntary Service 2018

The Mayor of Chelmsford presented Awards and Commendations for Outstanding Voluntary Contribution to local people in 2018 at an afternoon tea held in the Mayor’s Parlour.

The winner of this years prestigious Awards went to Samantha Tracey who volunteers for at Support 4 Sight, a charity that assists people with sight loss to cope positively in maintaining their independence and quality of life. She has been instrumental in forming the local sensory support group, volunteers at Broomfield Hospital and is also a trustee of the charity. Her nominator said: “She has worked tirelessly to make the opening of our new Chelmsford Centre a reality. No distance, no problem or obstacle is going to stop her from volunteering. She is a true example of what excellence in volunteering is about; an inspiration to everyone at the charity and to our beneficiaries.”

Highly Commended certificates were also awarded to Phillip Moore  in appreciation and recognition of the exceptional contribution he has made as a volunteer with Age UK Essex, Margaret Watchorn in appreciation and recognition of the exceptional contribution she has made as a volunteer with North Avenue Youth Centre, and to Janet Patch in appreciation and recognition of the exceptional contribution she has made as a volunteer with Action for Family Carers.
