Crowds for Charity update event
143 people attended our ‘In Good Company’ event on 13 March 2013. It was wonderful to see so many members and colleagues at Chelmsford City Football Club. Such a great crowd; the room was buzzing until well after the meeting closed with people catching up and making new connections, with a queue to talk to speakers at the end, and with barely a crumb of cake left over!
This large meeting would not happen without the voluntary help and support of many people. Our thanks go to all.
CVS Chair, Brian Mister, began with formal business reporting that the charity had ended the year solvent and viable, and thanked all funders for their support. Thanks also went to members for their donations and support of the charity during the year.
Lorraine Jarvis then spoke about the activities of the CVS, highlighting the challenges posed by this tough economic climate, and local examples of exceptional generosity and commitment.
David Green from John Lewis Partnership and John Niland from Central Essex Community Services were very well received. We will continue to seek out and pass on to our member groups future opportunities to connect with both companies.
