Saving the UK’s Most Threatened Birds

Thursday 10 September 2015.  Writtle College – Northumberland Theatre.  (NOTE: Theatre is very close to Wilkins Tea Room; not on the main college site).  Ample free parking adjacent to the theatre. Access is at ground level

Gwyn Williams, Head of Reserves and Protected Areas, will look at how the RSPB decides how best it can organise itself to stimulate recovery in the UK of threatened birds such as the white tailed eagle, bittern and cirl bunting, through the measures available to us, including reserves, protected areas and hands-on species interventions.

Gwyn will then talk about RSPB’s work for corncrakes as a species whose decline towards extirpation in the UK was halted, and now reversed.

Time: 8.00pm – 9.50pm with interval. Price: £3.50 (free tea/coffee/juice and biscuits in the interval) Non-Members welcome.  No booking required.  Free parking immediately outside theatre entrance.

Urban Birding (with “The Urban Birder”!)

Passionate about birds from a very young age and now a well known TV presenter, radio broadcaster, author, naturalist, tour leader and recent promoter of Britain’s emblematic bird, the robin, “The Urban Birder” – DAVID LINDO will explain how we can Look Up! to enrich our lives.

8.00pm – 9.45pm with interval.  £5.00 entry (including refreshments).
