Essex Savers Opens New Chelmsford Branch and Launches its Own Short-Term Loan.

Essex SaversPress Release From Essex Savers

The Rt. Hon Simon Burns, MP will open a new branch of Essex Savers at Barclays, Chelmsford on Friday 25 July at 10.30am

He will also launch Essex Savers’ new short-term loan, the affordable alternative to Pay-day loans.

Essex Savers is delighted to be expanding its services in Barclays’ branches with today’s opening in Chelmsford.

Essex Savers partnership with Barclays is making it possible for our services to be more accessible to the people of Essex.

Essex Savers will now have a weekly service point at Barclays in Chelmsford every Thursday.

The launch of Essex SaversShort-TermLoan will provide an affordable alternative to Payday loans for employed people in Essex – something that is much needed if people are to avoid predatory lenders and over-indebtedness.

Essex Savers has lent £3.7 million to date, saving Essex local authorities a potential £10 million by helping people avoid repossession.  Further savings are being made by supporting those who are struggling financially.

Councils will benefit further as welfare changes take effect.  Essex Savers’ members will be able to have their council tax and rent paid direct to their council, providing a valuable service to local authorities and helping members to better manage their money.

We are grateful to the Rt. Hon Simon Burns, a member of Essex Savers for many years, for his continuing support and his encouragement as we increase access for local residents and add this new loan product, Essex SaversShort-Term Loan, to our range of services.

Simon Burns said:

‘I congratulate Essex Savers and Barclays for this excellent initiative which will provide help to thousands of people within a fair and responsible lending environment.’
